No, not mine. I mean, yes, my kids are amazing! :-) But this post isn't about them.
Samantha has a friend named Lucy. Lucy is 8 years old and is in second grade. Last summer, Lucy decided that she wanted to feed the hungry kids in America. ALL of them. Lucy also loves music. So she came up with an idea. She composed enough songs to fill a CD, convinced her piano teacher to accompany her, and booked studio time. She and her teacher recorded these songs (Lucy sang the songs with vocals, and played the piano on the instrumental songs). They are all 100% original compositions of Lucy's. With the help of her dad, she produced a CD, which she is selling for $10. The entire amount (not just proceeds - all $10) go to feed hungry kids. Since August 2012, Lucy has fed over 40,000 hungry children in America!
Obviously, Lucy had some help with the implementation of her idea. But the fact that this was completely her idea, and that she convinced the adults in her life to help her with this project, is amazing. She was asked if she wanted to keep any of the money for herself, and she refused. She said she has enough food to eat, and enough money in her piggy bank, so all the money should go to feed hungry kids.
Samantha has been singing many of Lucy's songs lately, and is convinced that Lucy is on her way to becoming a big star! Whether or not Lucy becomes a famous singer, I'd say she has a bright future ahead of her!
